1962 Harmony Stella Sundale Parlor Guitar
While these are basically the same, cheap guitar as the all-birch Harmony Stella H929 model, the finishes on these Stella "Sundale" models and their sister Harmony "Caribbean" models are way too cool. They're striking and nothing else looks quite like them. They've also become popular over time and the prices for these just keep going up and up.
This one was just in for repair and while I had to make do with a bit of a warped neck, it does play on-spec after work and has that boxy, woody, bluesy sound that one expects from this type of guitar. It has a date stamp inside that appears to read S-62 but I'm not sure that's correct as it's very faded.
Repairs included: a neck reset, fret level/dress, side dots install, cleaning, compensation and adjustment of the original bridge, and setup.
Setup notes: action is spot-on at 3/32" EA and 1/16" DGBE at the 12th fret and it's strung with 54w, 40w, 30w, 22w, 16, 12 gauges. The neck has a hair over 1/64" of warp tuned to pitch.
Condition notes: while there's plenty of small scratches and dings throughout, condition overall is pretty good. The finish on the fretboard shows healthy playwear, too. There are no cracks and everything on the guitar is original to it save the strings.
