1948 Gibson LG-1 Flattop Guitar

Pretty stuff, right? This is a '48 Gibson LG-1 (ladder-braced) flattop that was here for a little while getting some while-you-wait work done. It had an old top crack repair that needed to be cleated and filled and at the same time I cleaned-up the top edge of the (shaved) saddle and adjusted the setup.

Sound-wise? It's really good -- warm lower-mids, with a good woody middle, and a bit of "pop" to the top-end. I don't like all LG-1s immediately but I did like this one right away.

And, yeah... there's that sunburst, huh? 

The instrument is original throughout but it does have its share of minor wear and tear to the finish, replacement ('60s Japanese) tuners, and a saddle that's been shaved to only about 1/16" height over the top deck of the bridge. It still plays spot-on, though, even if the intonation is a little flat up at the octave (...because the saddle position is set too far back by about 1/16" or so).

Per the usual for this model, the top is solid spruce, the back and sides are solid mahogany, the neck is mahogany, and the fretboard and bridge are Brazilian rosewood. The neck has a "medium-chunkier C" shape with a ~10" radius fretboard.
