2003 Taylor 615CE Jumbo Flattop Guitar

This is a one-owner guitar and said owner is stepping-down to smaller-bodied instruments so it's here for consignment. It's been played and has opened-up nicely, but is quite clean and all-original save what looks to be a custom bone saddle and a small spot of finish blem (sealed/resprayed but not perfectly) on the lower-bout-top.

Like most jumbos, it has a big, full sound with a lot of punch that's best heard on the soundhole-side of the instrument. Its voice is clean and clear, however, and not woofy or indistinct. The curly maple back and sides probably help a lot with that, methinks. This is definitely a great guitar for someone pinning-down a band or small group.

It's fancy-looking, too, with multi-ply binding, a smart-looking sunburst finish, and pearl around the rosette. Board and bridge are ebony and it has quality, figured maple for its back and sides.

It has the usual Taylor 3-knob, active pickup installed and it sounds good through my little Roland acoustic amp. The neck is thin, fast, and has a flattish board profile -- all of which adds-up to a modern feel. I only needed to do a minor amount of fussing with it to get it playing right too, as it arrived with a good setup already.

Repairs included: a light fret level/dress to remove some playwear in first position, a set of new strings, and a setup.

Setup notes: the neck is straight, the truss rod works, and action is low, fast, and spot-on at 3/32" bass and 1/16" treble at the 12th fret.

Condition notes: the only real "flaw" is a small spot of resprayed finish/finish blem on the top-lower-bout that you can only see when you have the guitar turned in the glare just right -- I took a photo with glare on it so you can see it. There's also minor handling-wear throughout (as in: not a perfect mirror-like finish but with fine marks -- not even scratches) and a light amount of pickwear at the upper-bout/soundhole area that can't even be seen until glare from lights is cast on it.
