1990s Epiphone Dove Dreadnought Guitar
This guy was just-in for a fret/level dress and setup but I figured I'd share some observations because I took a look online to see what the market was saying about these instruments and had a good chuckle. Apparently, because they're 20+ years-old, now, these are considered "better than new Epiphones."
Well, that's funny! And, well... it's a good, sturdy, bulletproof, ply-body guitar and it has a comfortable neck and fun looks, but it's not an improvement compared to modern, CNC-cut, similarly-rugged versions of the same. It's cooler in its way, but it's not better. It's at most a sidestep over.
Does the brain like it better because it's got some time under its belt? Sure! That doesn't make it better-sounding, though. It has the same, midsy, sort-of chimey, thwacky tone that I remember these having when seeing them leaning-up in dormrooms.
