1958 Gibson LG-0 Flattop Guitar

A consignor of mine brought this '58 LG-0 by. This is the first year of production for the model and, compared to '60s ones, has some nice features -- an original-style rectangular, LG-1/2-style bridge, non-adjustable saddle, that perfect late-'50s medium-C neck profile, and a bit nicer quality wood throughout. This one is just about as original as you could want -- meaning completely original -- and crack-free.

I like the dry, woody, midsy sound these have a lot when you're sticking a mic in front of it. They're ridiculously easy to track and sit in a mix just about perfectly because of that sound. Fingerpickers will enjoy that flat, punchy response and flatpickers will like the chimey chord sound tempered by the highs-scoop you get with the mahogany top. It's a bit of a natural compressor sound -- not in a bad way, but in a good way.

All I had to do was a glorified setup and after that was done it's now playing on-the-dot fast and easy and has been stable in service since I strung it up early last week. My posts and listings have been on quite the delay these days!

Condition notes: it's all-original and crack free. The finish does have weather-check throughout as you'd expect and the owner used a bit of polish on it that's run down into the open finish checking/cracking and that discolored it darker than normal. That will fade over time.

It comes with: its original chip case in storage-worthy condition.
