2018 Bourgeois Custom D Dreadnought Guitar
The owner of this guitar worked for a time at Bourgeois and he even did some of the work on this instrument. It's certainly a beaut, so -- nice job!
It's marked inside as a "Custom D" model and, aside from trim upgrades, is basically a fancy take on an old D-28 pattern. It also sounds like an old D-28 but more refined -- big, warm bottom end, grand piano-like scooping to the highs, and velvety, very-present mids. The video doesn't do it justice, especially since it has brand-new strings on it and I had to angle the mic to keep the low-end from booming it as much as I could.
Still, it's pretty obvious that this is a fantastic guitar, no?
Specs-wise, it has all the glitter that you could want -- an Adirondack spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, multi-ply celluloid/ivoroid binding all over the place, a refined and clean look with "pinprick" fretboard dots, nice celluloid pickguard in the traditional "Martin red" color of the '40s, an elegant bridge, crisp volute at the back of the headstock, "animal protein" glue, torrefied bracing stock -- I can go on and on.
Suffice to say, this is a beautifully-made guitar, completely high-spec, and built with confidence. There's a reason these are such sought-after instruments.
It even has a Baggs Lyric pickup installed, too -- so it's ready for gigs as well.
