1991 Blue Lion Bass Mountain Dulcimer

This cute thing is a "bass dulcimer" and has an oversize body but a scale length roughly similar to the average mountain dulcimer. It's intended to be tuned an octave down from normal DD-A-D (high to low) tuning but the owner strings and tunes it for D-A-A-D tuning.

It's solid cedar over solid cherry and it looks, sounds, and plays nice. It's remained very stable in service and was compensated at the saddle from the factory -- two things that are rare to find in any dulcimers.

It was just in for a light setup and restring.
