1960s L. Mozzani Classica A Classical Guitar

Luigi Mozzani was a famous composer and guitar builder from the late 1800s through the early 1940s. This guitar bears his name in the soundhole but it was actually built in the '60s, long after he passed away, and marketed by the Farfisa company who'd purchased rights to the name from the family after his death. Thus, "L. Mozzani" guitars continued on into the '70s but are related to Mr. Luigi in name only -- and in country of origin -- Italy.

That said, this is a nicely-built instrument and apes some of the look of Mozzani's guitars build pre-WWII. It's fan-braced, lightly-made, has minimalistic details, and is built from good materials -- solid cedar over solid rosewood.

It's had a bunch of work done in its time -- a previous repairman actually "reset" the neck via shimming-up the fretboard with a wedge under its entire length. The headstock was repaired at some point, too. My own work on this was to replace a broken bridge with a new, from-scratch one (I gave it a drop-in saddle for ease-of-use), a fret level/dress, side dots, and setup work as well as a few crack and brace repairs.

It's now playing spot-on and sounds a treat. I like the neck, too -- it's slightly thinner front-to-back and a lot easier to handle than the average Spanish classical guitar.
