1954 Martin 00-18G Classical Guitar

I can't even remember the last time I had a 00-18G in the shop. Maybe it was close to a decade ago? They're pretty rare critters and they don't show up on the market all that often. This guitar, along with the '71 000-28 I just posted, were owned by the same player in the same family and you can definitely tell how much she loved to play her guitars. Just look at the years of solid play this got!

It's light as a feather, sounds full and round and even-toned with good clarity and sweetness, and handles nicely. It's also lived its entire life without the need for a neck reset, apparently, as it came in the shop with action clocked at 3/32" at the 12th fret -- perfect for a classical. How about that?

I like the way the G-model Martin classicals use 14-fret body shapes but with a lower soundhole and 12-fret joint. It gives them their own "spice," I suppose.

Per the usual for an 18-series, it's spruce over mahogany and has a rosewood board and bridge. It's fan-braced and lightly-done, too.
