1967 Guild T-100 Hollowbody Electric Guitar
This beat-up old warhorse was purchased locally before I could "get it to market" online. I was, however, able to snap a few pics on its way out. It's a great guitar and in many ways very similar to a cutaway ES-125T (see here and see here) being slightly thinner than the older A-50/X-50 model archtops also made by Guild.
It has that "Hoboken neck" that we all like, though -- very much like a Gibson feel from the same era but with smaller frets and a more stable nut width. The pickup is a bright-sounding, DeArmond-vibe, single coil with poles that are clearly set for wound-G stringing (no surprise there as per its original jazzier target audience) but it had a capacitor wired-in right at the pickup and before the wiring harness to damp down the brightness. I, of course, removed that so it's "free and easy."
It's all original except for its nut, bridge, and knobs. I put the knobs on and modified the bridge on it so it could be adjusted a bit better. The neck angle is a little low but it was so close to good that I just left it and played-around with the bridge setup until I was happy with the setup being spot-on and mildly-adjustable. Ancel did the fret level/dress work. It's now a good player and, happily, will be a nice gigging guitar for its new owner.
There's something satisfying and cozy about a thinbody, cutaway archtop like this fella. That's ramped-up even more when it has so many lovebites that it makes you feel a little more carefree about how you use it and where you take it.
