1890s German-made Unmarked 4/4 Inlaid Fancy Violin

My guy Andy has been pounding-away at the fiddles around here. This one arrived recently and needed, basically, a "fancy, glorified setup." Post-work it's playing bang-on and boy is it gorgeous and boy does it sound smooth and delicious. It's well-built, with a tightly-grained spruce top and high-quality flamed maple used throughout the back and sides. Both the top and bottom edges have "rope" binding and there's finely-cut inlay work on the back.

It's probably German-made and most likely dates from the 1890s or early 1900s at the latest. All of the fittings were original save the chinrest and bridge when it arrived, though it did have some gloppy "overspray" of finish on top of the original top finish.

Repairs included: it wound-up getting some seam repairs, a minor hairline crack repair, finish cleaning, some extra fine tuners, a restring, and bridge fitting and setup.
