1910s Concert Violin Maggini (Likely German) 4/4 Violin

This is a well-made, double-purfled, rich-sounding old violin. It bears the mark "Concert Violin Maggini" set into the back of the headstock and a bogus Maggini label in the soundhole. I expect it to have been made in Germany for perhaps the B&J or Metropolitan Music catalogs as I seem to remember their having a line of these in the 1910s-1920s era.

Our bowed guy Andy has gone through it and it's in good order and ready to serve with a tall bridge, fresh strings, and good fittings. It has a few minor old repairs and some subdued playwear here and there, but the overall effect is of a well-cared-for "old hand." It doesn't hurt that it's rather elegant, too.

Condition notes: there's some finish wear and tear throughout including a bunch of "rubbing-out" around the f-holes and smaller scritchy-scratch stuff here and there. The pegs, tailpiece, chinrest, tailgut, and bridge are all replacements but it's otherwise original. It has some old (nicely-done) crack repairs to the sides (pictured) near the neck joint but overall it arrived here nice and healthy.
