1960s Harmony H929 Stella Rubber Bridge Electrified Guitar Conversion

The rubber bridge craze continues and I only get more requests for them. My consignor Michael found this fun old Stella H929 locally and brought it in for us and it went right into the "rubber conversion" pile as these guitars sound neat when fixed-up "as normal" but they certainly shine as a "new toy" when rubber bridged and electrified.

To that end, we've fit a lipstick-style (Alnico magnet) single coil pickup in the top below the soundhole and between two braces. We've done a lot of them in the neck position but recently we did a similar tailpiece guitar up this way for a local player and we liked it so much that we're going to do more with this positioning. You gain a little more treble-side snap and clarity that's useful for going to town strumming on these guitars and gives a little more definition when fingerpicked, too. Also -- it looks cool, there's no doubt.

Ancel did most of the work on this one but I helped here and there. It's ready to roll.

Repairs included: a neck reset, fret level/dress, seam repairs, pickup route and install, wiring fitting and wiring job, side dots install, cleaning, replacement (vintage) tuners, and setup.

Condition notes: it shows wear and tear throughout the finish and a lot of scuffing on the back. Thee are no cracks, however. Some seams had to be reglued on the back/side seams but overall it's in good shape. Side dots have been added. Clearly, we've fit a rubber bridge rather than the original (missing) bridge. Also, we've routed and fit a pickup in the center position below the soundhole. The jack and volume control on the top are unoriginal as well. The tuners are slightly later and unoriginal but look more or less right.

It comes with: a chip case.
