1940s Kay 2-Point Archtop Mandolin

This one is an absolute beaut, huh? It's all-ply in the body but has a nice, sweet,woody, punchy sound to it. This has the same body shape and styling as the '30s "Kay Kraft" model instruments but has a '40s "update" to its looks and style with profuse tortoise trim and less bling overall. It's quite handsome, though -- just look at it!

A local customer owns this and we did the work necessary to get it stable and happy -- I reset the neck and compensated the bridge and then my guy Tim did a level/dress of the frets, added side dots, and set it up. It plays spot-on and is in good health, now.

It's completely original save a "cherries" decal added to the headstock at some point. The top is ply spruce and the back and sides are ply mahogany. It has a mahogany neck and rosewood bridge and fretboard.
