1963 Fender Jaguar Electric Guitar

This absurdly-original '63 Jaguar is one I had done some setup work on before, but this time around I got to really dig into it as it came here for consignment. It was on a very long hold and has since sold, but I figured I would give you the too-many-photo tour just for fun, anyway!

My work included getting the string-mute working again (with some foam to replace the old rubberized mute), some minor soldering work touching-up old connections, a fret level/dress, setup, and various adjustments here and there. I think I may have added some ferrules for the bridge posts to keep the bridge from rocking, too, so as to make it more stable and practical.

Aside from the nut (brass), possibly the frets (they looked original before I leveled/dressed them, but my memory is failing since the guitar is out of sight, now), and the string mute foam it's entirely original as far as I can tell. Oh! Yes, and I added a couple StewMac neck-angle shims as well.

For what it's worth, '63 has been my favorite year for Jags. The pickups have a sort-of roar to them that I really like. They have more growl and a bit more of a DynaSonic flavor to their low end compared to later years. Maybe it's my own bias, but I think this is true of the ones I've played from this year...!
