1966 Fender Mustang Electric Guitar

Overview: This is just what it looks like -- an all-original '66 Mustang in Olympic White with a red tortoise pickguard. It's a classic look and this one is worn-in enough to feel just like an old pair of jeans when you get it in the lap and start playing. It's cozy.

Tone: Per the usual, these covered Strat-style pickups with their flat poles have their own sound. It's a got a bit of that Strat-like, note-to-note balance and clarity but between the short scale and the different bridge setup, this guitar has a bit more of that early-'60s Jaguar thing going on -- growly and almost chunky-sounding at the neck and transparent and poppy/crisp at the bridge.

Feel: The neck is your standard '60s medium-heft C shape with a tight radius to the board. It's quick but also fills the palm out nicely.

Interesting features: This used to have a ton of stickers on it and Ancel managed to remove them without much woe.

Repairs included: Ancel gave it a fret level/dress and setup and that was all it needed to play spot-on.
