1990s Alvarez AD65 Flattop F-Hole Guitar
This is a local customer's guitar and it sure is a weirdo -- it's an X-braced flattop but fit with f-holes and an archtop-style sunburst finish. The body (and top) are all ply in construction but despite that, it has a good, chunky sound to it that's midsy and endearing. Alvarez called this the "Bluesman" model at the time they released it.
Ancel tackled repairs on this one and that included making and fitting a replacement (in the same style, though) bridge, fretwork, and a new saddle. It had a mismatched set of somewhat-broken tuners on it when it came in so we replaced those with a mismatched set of nicely-functional tuners from our parts-box on the house just for fun. It's turned-out great and I'm hoping the owner appreciates the work that went into it to keep it humming.
