2020s Fox Kalamazoo KGN-12-F 00-Size Guitar

Overview: I recently sold the normal, sunburst version of this "reissue" guitar. This is the "Oriole" version, modeled after the early-'40s version (KGN-12) of the original Gibson-made Kalamazoo KG-14 with ply maple back and sides rather than mahogany and a natural, creamy-yellow-looking finish. While this is Chinese-made, it's a nice-quality guitar and its build and fit well and has a sharp, clean look about it. It's still got that thicker finish style but overall it's a looker and has a sound close to a Gibson L-00 as it's x-braced under the hood.

Tone: It's woody, clean, balanced, and has a nice warm grunt to the lower mids. It'll work great for both fingerpicking and flatpicked thumping.

Feel: While the "originals" would have had a big old V neck shape, this has a modern "medium C" with a flatter board radius and feels pretty similar to modern Gibson flattop necks.

Interesting features: The tortoise trim against the flamed ply maple of the back and sides is classy as heck. The firestripe pickguard is a nice touch, too. The tuners are not bad at all as well -- which, for a guitar of this price point, is fairly impressive -- as they look decent.

Repairs included: Ancel gave this a level/dress of the frets and a thorough setup and it's playing spot-on and is ready to roll.
