2020s Luna Moonbird F-Style Acoustic/Electric Mandolin

Overview: This is a simple, no-frills, all-ply, F-style mandolin with a pickup fit so you can plug in and gig right away. The black satin finish and cream binding give it a snazzy look, too. I took this one in trade to help a fella out and I've given it a little bit of love to make it into a better instrument than from the factory.

Tone: It sounds pretty nice, to be honest, despite its humble build -- with a nice, mids-forward, choppy sound that carries pretty decently.

Feel: The neck is similar to a Gibson-style one with a medium-V profile and flat board.

Interesting features: The "moon" knobs are a nice touch. I've upgraded the pickup by swapping it to a K&K piezo mounted inside (rather than the squawky undersaddle element original to it) and replaced the terrible original bridge with a good, adjustable rosewood one.

Repairs included: Pickup swap-out, new bridge, cleaning, and setup work. It plays spot-on with low action and a quick, easy feel.

Condition notes: It's basically a new instrument as the previous owner only had a few hours into it before trading it to me. When I spliced the new pickup into the wiring harness, I found that both the tone and volume knobs just work like volume knobs. The tone roll-off must be set to a very fine degree so as not to be even heard with the new K&K pickup.

It comes with: It has a nice semi-rigid foam "hard" case.
