2020s Novo Idris Strat-Style Electric Guitar

Overview: These Novos have that "old pair of shoes" or "old mitt" feel about them even when they're brand new. Because they've got aged-ness about them, you don't worry too much about taking as much care handling them and so they immediately feel like fast friends as you're concentrating on the playing first. Their overall design styles (slightly-wider, lighter-weight, offset bodies) cover a wide range of ground both aesthetically and ergonomically and they really are well-thought-out as far as comfort goes. This particular guitar handles a bit like a mashup of a Strat and Jazzmaster with a little of the Danelectro "amp in case model" thrown-in.

Tone: It sounds like a really good Strat as you might expect.

Feel: Aside from the flatter 12" board radius, the neck handles very much like a '60s Fender. It's round-C, medium-heft, and very comfy.

Interesting features: I love the nod to '60s catalog guitars with the mildly-batwinged pickguard shape and black-painted headstock. The roasted maple neck, of course, is also quite nice to have and very stable. The relic'd nitro finish has a great look and its metallic luster against the parchment-like pickguard is sharp. All hardware and parts are high quality and rugged.

Repairs included: It got a quick setup and some mild wiring repairs (as it had been wired for different pickups at one point) the first time it was in here and, since, it's been playing spot-on.

Condition notes: These are "relic'd" from the maker and so the finish shows wear and tear "brand-new" with lots of weather-checking and minor scuffs and scratches. It's otherwise very clean. The previous owner rewired the tone knobs to slave the second tone also to the bridge pickup. If you want me to rewire it "factory standard" so tone is bypassed on the bridge pickup, let me know.

It comes with: It has a nice, heavy-duty gigbag.
