1920s Unmarked German 4/4 Violin w/Replaced Neck

This is an old German-made "shop" violin of middle or better grade that a small-time maker -- Carl Walker from Athol, MA -- repaired sometime in the '50s. It looks like he made a new neck for it, fit it, and also did a few repairs to body damage.

Here at the shop, Manny had to re-repair a number of the problems. He fixed some seam and crack problems, reset the neck, reglued the fingerboard (as I recall), and fit some old pegs. I fit a new bridge, tailpiece, adjusted the soundpost, and set it up. It's now playing spot-on and ready to serve.

I think the most interesting bit is the quirkily-carved neck and headstock when seen alongside the rather "normal" Strad-style violin.
