1956 Gibson Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar

Overview: This guitar is a beaut and has been turning heads in-shop since it arrived. It has a faster neck than average for Juniors from the time with a feel that's more akin to late '50s or early '60s Gibsons. Much is right on the guitar but there are a few things that are not. It has a well-repaired old headstock break (it split on the flat of the back so there was plenty of gluing surface) and some of the hardware is swapped-out. Still, it has the sound and the feel. It's growly and bitey and cranky in all the best ways.

Interesting features: The burst is surprisingly well-preserved and has a good reddish tinge to its outer edges. As noted above, the neck is a bit faster than average and more "home base" territory to my hands. It's comfy. It has a MojoAxe compensated tailpiece which is a huge plus, too. The pickup is original and has the magic.

Repairs included: Sarah gave it a level/dress of the frets, restring, and setup. It's playing spot-on and ready to serve.

Condition notes: The tailpiece is unoriginal. The strap buttons are unoriginal (though I have proper Gibson-style ones if desired). The pickup and cover are original. The tuners are later (1960s) Klusons with repro buttons installed. The pickguard looks right but is, in fact, a repro. I'm not sure about the knobs but I lean towards suspicion. The jack plate and backplate are original and so are their screws. The old headstock repair was done well and is holding-pat just fine. The finish shows weather-check throughout (as you'd expect) and also light scratches, scuffs, nicks, and dings here and there all over as well. The pictures do a good job of showing it -- it's light distress and not distracting. It's enhancing!

It comes with: It has both a modern hard case (nothing to write home about) and an original '50s brown chip case which is very dilapidated.
