2017 Ernie Ball Music Man St. Vincent Electric Guitar
Overview: This is the first St. Vincent I've had through the shop other than for a quick setup and it was nice to bond with it a bit. The body is very comfortable and the weight, for such a long and stylized guitar, is not bad at all! The neck is a bit bigger than I expected and it has a cut that almost reminds me of an old '30s Gibson meeting a '50s Kay, though on the faster side of both of those. The Firebird-style pickups give it an interesting sound (very Gibson-y but with a Fender-ish snap to the setup) and it has a relaxed, old-friend sort of feel about it. I like.
Interesting features: The all-rosewood neck is pretty slick and has no finish on the back of it as far as I can tell. It feels "warm," so to speak. The body contours, overall design and ergonomics, and simple control layout are also all things I like about it. To be honest, it's refreshing to see a design that echoes hard rock guitars like Explorers and Firebirds but comes-out feeling like its own classic being.
Repairs included: This got a fret level/dress, cleaning, and setup via Sarah and it's playing swell and ready to go.
