1979 Kamouraska (Godin) Etude Concert Classical Guitar

The team of luthiers that eventually established Godin guitars and the whole Seagull, Simon & Patrick, and various brands started-off by experimenting with design styles and construction techniques. This Kamouraska guitar is one of those early offshoot brands and incorporates typical early Seagull-style stuff (ply birch back and sides, a 3-piece top, a simplified neck joint) with "small-builder" touches -- a neat headstock shape, lighter bracing, and custom rosette style.

This is a customer's guitar and was in for "repair and home" work -- a level/dress of the frets and glorified setup work -- and, post-repairs, it's a strong-sounding instrument with an even, balanced, not-too-boomy classical sound. I like it a lot -- it reminds me very much of a decent flamenco guitar -- perfect for a folk-style guitarist in the classical vein.
