c.1910 Weymann 5-String Banjo

Another soon to be "on consignment" instrument -- this is an absolutely fantastic early Weymann 5-string banjo, probably around 1905-1910 or so. It's in all-original condition and is, aside from a tiny bit of use wear, essentially "as new." I've never seen a Weymann with such good finish. All-original hardware, extremely good quality build, and great playability helps, too! Did I mention that these 5-strings are super, super rare?

Tone-wise it's loud, rich, and poppy -- just the type of sound someone who'd be in the market for an old fancy Vega would be looking for. And it's got that "Martin-esque" understated elegance.

Ebony fretboard, headstock veneer, and heel cap. Bone nut. Original ivoroid-buttoned friction pegs all over.

MOP dots inlaid.

Head looks original (or at least period) to me. It's a Jos. Rogers, too.

Old Elite tailpiece and funky old bridge.

Nice, very light natural maple finish. Hardware's in really, really nice shape.

11" pot.

Back of headstock with the Keystone State badge.

Nice big heel gives it a very sturdy feel.

Nice maple pot. No tonering, but it doesn't need one -- just as loud as if it had a big honking ring and plenty sweeter and poppier than if it did.

Jos. Rogers mark.

And it has its original hard case (in good shape) too!

...along with a period screwdriver to adjust the tuners, wrenches to tighten the head, and a period Grover head mute. Sweet.
