c.1960 Di Giorgio (made in Brazil) Classical Guitar


This is a customer's full-size classical guitar, made by Di Giorgio in Brazil, and is a fantastic concert instrument with Brazilian rosewood back and sides. It's definitely seen a lot of wear and tear, but it's all still there, and the super-lightweight construction makes this a very "live" feeling guitar.


My work included a setup, reglue of some old glue jobs (cracks had opened up again and a top seam, too) and a slight saddle/bridge shave to bring the action down.


Fancy headstock.


Rosewood board and bridge. Side dots are a nice addition.




Guitar has a lot of fancy trim including rosewood binding and a bunch of purfling around the edges.




Headstock has impressed (or carved?) into it "Romeo Di Giorgio Sau Paulo" -- which I haven't seen on the back of other Di Giorgios I've seen.

I have one I bought from the original owner in 1976 that looks alomst identical to this one. It has just been sitting in a case all this time. I played it some in the late '70's. I was wondering it's value today.

so i have a di giorgio 1978 author 30#3.
what kind of spruce is the top?
the back n sides appear to be brazillian, however, is it solid wood or a laminatee?

i hav a mid seventies D`Giorgio Classical sized Guitar made orignially in San Paulo Brazil, purchased from a Store in Tottenham Court Road . Its value amazes me from what I see on E bay? I converted it from right hand to left hand , new pegs, frets, etc ,,,,its tone is as was beautiful..... Question: along the way I lost the internal certificate . (Stamped on the back of the Fret board head "D`Giorgio Brazil) Is it possible to regain one from D`Giorgio?
