c.1965 Aria "Diamond" Offset Electric Guitar

This intensely-shaped offset-body Aria is the last guitar I've been working on from the "Skanktone Collection" and this is the one that was chosen to go "back home" for use. It's a good choice as far as Teiscos, go, as it's more than likely a mid-60s rather than 70s model. I say this because the hardware is slightly nicer quality, the knobs are the earlier 60s style ones, and the neck build is nicer than usual (big old slab rosewood and radiused nicely with no binding).

It's got a short scale neck running to 23 3/4" which makes it feel absurdly fast, especially with the 10s I popped on it.

Gotta love that funky sort-of-tortoise? pickguard!

The medium-large frets feel great and unlike most Japanese imports from the time, this has pearl dots!

I love the bizarre pickup cover. Don't let it fool you, though, this has that crisp and clean sort of tonality peculiar to these guys.

During setup, as usual, I had to move the bridge a bit and then redrill mounting holes for its foot as the factory positioning is always "sharp."

This guitar was originally part of the Skanktone Guitars collection. Skanktone was run by Joe Schenkman of right-here-in-Rochester, Vermont, and specialized in fun, funky, wonky, and wild old guitars (among other things). He amassed a very cool personal collection that's been off-and-on stored for a number of years and now a fair number of the quirky and fun vintage items are being sold through Antebellum.
