1960s Guyatone LG-150T Electric Guitar

How about this crazy thing? Guyatones tend to be really fun guitars but not all of them are as good as this guy with its reverse offset that puts the neck right into your hands. It's clearly borrowing heavily from Mosrite designs and also their fellow countrymen at Yamaha in Japan for the aesthetics. The sound and hardware, however, is a direct rip on Fender designs.

These pickups look and sound like Jaguar pickups -- it's warm and crunchy at the neck and twangy and "wet" at the bridge. It gets a nice snarl in there, too. The whammy is a modified clone of a Jazzmaster-style unit, even, though the "roller bridge" with its adjustable saddle intonation reminds me of Mosrites again. It's a clever design and easy to adjust.

Aside from a a previous refret, the neck feels quite Mosrite to me as well. It's got a bit of a low/slim profile with cut-off corners -- though it keeps its overall C shape. The body clearly apes Mosrite, too, with its shaped, routed-out top edges and flat back.

Anyhow, you all can clearly tell that I like this thing a bunch. It's a customer's guitar, though, so I don't have a chance to rob this guit-cradle. It received a light fret level/dress, side dots, and a lot of glorified setup and adjustment work. Of course... it's now playing spot-on.

Interesting notes? It's got a 1 5/8" nut width, and 24 3/4" (Gibson!) scale length.
