c.1925 Frankenstein Tenor Banjo

Talk about your perfect budget tenor banjo...! I put this one together from parts laying about the workshop. It has a (Concertone?) 10" maple banjo mandolin pot, a Slingerland tenor banjo neck and tuners, rim hex shoes from a parts tenor banjo from the same time, and hooks & nuts from a 1960s Japanese aluminum-pot wonder. The new stuff is: a new Remo Renaissance head (these rock), a new "standard issue" tailpiece, and a bridge I cut from a scrap of ebony fingerboard blank.

At any rate, the end result is a delightfully easy-playing banjo, with loud but sweet tone, that's just as good as any not-cobbled-together student/mid-grade tenor from the time. The smallish pot also makes it really cozy in the lap and lightens the weight somewhat. This thing sounds really good with "standard" tenor tuning: CGDA.

While I didn't have enough lugs to go around they're evenly spaced and hold the tension just fine.
