c.1960 Silvertone by Harmony Baritone Ukulele

Another nice earlier Harmony-made baritone uke, all-solid mahogany, tortoise trim, rosewood bridge and fretboard, and all-original fittings. And how's she sound? Wonderful. Work included a neck set, setup, brace re-gluing, cleaning, crack repairs to the rear, etc.

Condition is well-used but not too shabby. A lot of these ukes are simply destroyed by the time they get to me as they're instruments that tend to be well-traveled, too.

Plenty of crackle in the finish and lots of playwear on the upper bout.

Headstock, original bone nut.

Rosewood fretboard, brass frets, faux-MOP inlaid dots.

The mahogany used on the uke is nice stuff.

Previous bridge reglue job is not perfect but is plenty sturdy, especially with the bolts & washers hiding underneath those dot plugs.

Original good-quality friction tuners.

Back shows some wear, too, and 3 or 4 repaired hairline cracks (due mostly to a loose brace inside, since repaired).

Cool tortoise binding... and here you can see the lovely golden ginger ale glow of the mahogany.

I have this uke and I just love it. Has a great sound. I was fortunate to find one in like new condition with the original case. Your blog is the first place that I have gotten a good look at one just like mine. I didn't know who made it since these ukes don't have serial numbers. I had heard that Martin made some Silvertone instruments for a time. Thanks for your information.
