c.1965 Winston by Teisco Jag Style Guitar
Hello, cool! Like the Tele-shaped guitar a post below, this is definitely a 60s Japanese Teisco-made instrument, and (before I picked the peeling label off) was branded "Winston" by its distributor. This one has a great, mellow, jazzy-bluesy tone, with good thick lead and a round bass. Like the Tele, a perfect guitar to drive a bit -- or go surf clean and slap on loads of 'verb!
Simple appointments, but this guitar is pretty much a closet classic except for a little wear to the finish near the strap buttons... it came to me looking like it had been stuffed under a bed in a case and left there since the 60s. Gleaming finish, gleaming hardware... and check out the too-cool big old tortoise guard!
Unlike a lot of old Teiscos, this one's neck is simply finished natural. It's got a zero-fret, rosewood board, and faux-MOP dots.
I've done a fret dress as part of setup.
Cool tailpiece-cover as tailpiece.
I love the knobs which look like they've been pulled off a car stereo.
Classy pickup cover... with adjustable pole pieces.
And yes, in case you're wondering, you will look cool in front of the mirror playing this fellow.

We've had one almost exactly like this in our family since my dad was a kid, and I eventually ended up with it. The only difference is that it has a metal pick guard. We've never been able to identify it until now.
It's a bit beat up from the years, but I'm going to try and make it look nice and clean it up real good for once. Maybe I can make it sing for once instead of sitting in the closet doing nothing.
