Review: H-Clamp "Spirit" for Upright Bass

Ever wanted to mic up or record an upright or cello really easily?

This sucker does a good job. It's called an "H-Clamp" and is made by ExplorAudio. This model is the "Spirit" and it's the cheapest of the type available for double bass. It runs at about $100 but man, it sure is easier to get that microphone in the sweet spot and keep it there the entire time you're using it. No struggle, no wrapping stuff up in towels, no weird body dampening... yum.

I suppose if I wanted to build something like it I could, but ready-made with all the right parts is just so much easier...

And yes, I prefer Sennheiser e835 mics over Shures!
