Ephemera: The Hillbillies (c.1930)

The back of this was some sort of press postcard info about this group, "The Hillbillies." Names: Lefty, Jed, Ezra, and Ben. Feels like they're stolen from a 5-cent comic, huh?

I love the spooky moon in the background!

Also: check out that banjo -- English zither type! Who are these guys? Canadians?

Ted Ford was a Lancsman from the Liverpool area. Ben Evans was a fellow Brit he met in White Plains, NY.
They began recording for the Regal Zonophone label in 1934 and broke up when war reached Britain in 1939.
I haven't found anything more on them.

Ted Ford is my great grandfather. Ive always wanted to know about him, but none of the family want to tell me. Its so nice to see something about him as his great grandson.
