Ephemera: HMCS Patriot's Naval Jam Band (1920s)

I was intrigued by the photo as it appeared to be quite old-older than 1944 judging by the naval uniforms. It appears that Patriot was a Royal Navy vessel and was transferred to Canada after WW1 and was decommissioned in 1928- it appears that Patriot was the only functioning ship in the RCN after savage cuts! This suggests that the photo is not from 1944 but the 1920s and may explain why there is no guitar sailor man present and correct as the guitar revolution had yet to leave port in the wake of Nick Lucas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Patriot_(1916)

Thanks so much Nick!

This is what happens when I post information from the eBay listing, huh? I'll update it.

My maternal grandfather, Albert Ernest Watson (1893-1943) is in the back row on the right. I inherited his 1922 Gibson Banjolin. It has 8 strings like a mandolin and a drum head like a banjo with a very short neck
