Update: Where you been?

This summer has been kicking my butt! It's been so crazy around here that I've been having to update you all on Sundays of late as it's been the only time with a few hours spare to click photos and record videos. Meanwhile the same happens with my correspondence -- sorry to you all, hah hah. I can barely catch a few minutes to grab lunch before the next guitar-bodies hit the surgery for turnaround.

I missed snagging photos of some really fun gear over the last few days, too, that was in-and-out. Noteworthy instruments include a '30s National Triolian Polychrome in surf green with the palm-trees tropical-dream on the back, a '73 Fender Telecaster in black, '34 Kalamazoo KG-11 that was x-braced at some point (and got a brace-shave while-you-wait), a '60s Guild Starfire bass that was just about the perfect short-scale bass, and a late-'50s Gibson L-48 that'd been refinished black a long time back.

There's other stuff that's still here that I have to click-n-clip, though: a '30s Martin 1-28P plectrum guitar, '64 Russian contrabass balalaika, neat old '50s Hofner parlor guitar, '30s Kalamazoo mandolin, '30s Kay round-hole archtop guitar, and various other flattops and "just back in for sale" instruments from over the last few years.

So -- stay tuned -- I'm breathing and all. Here's proof -- Bonnie shot me with "bass face" while doing some theater music on that giant balalaika.

Now -- off to bed I go, with the Ink Spots echoing in my head.

What a beast. Bet it sounds terrific.

Make sure you know how to play "Back in the U.S.S.R."

Oh, show me round your snow peaked
Mountain way down south
Take me to your daddy's farm
Let me hear your balalaika's ringing out
Come and keep your comrade warm
