Local Pickup: Cremona 3/4 Bass, Amps

I have some items that I'd like to clear-out locally as they're big and/or not worth shipping. The first is a Cremona 3/4 upright bass that was given to me damaged. It's available (with gigbag and bow) for $120 -- the cost of my shop-time fixing it and setting it up. The caveat is that it has a repaired headstock break, some chipped-out veneer on the back, and a shimmed-up G-string slot on the bridge. There's also a dent on the low E string over the fretboard extension, but it doesn't affect playability.

It plays great, sounds good, and at 1/10 the price of the instrument new, there's not much more you can ask out of a cheaper ply bass.

Next-up is a Fender Dyna-Touch III Deluxe 900 solid-state amp. This 90-watter (it gets loud) has been in the shop for almost a year and I never listed it, assuming some young hot player would stop in, try it out, and grab it.

The clean channel sounds really good and responds a lot like a clean Fender tube amp would. The drive channel is merely OK. Its onboard effects are decent and it even has a tuner built-in. The reverb isn't spring-emulation so it's not to my taste, but the delays and flange/chorus stuff is quite useful.

It has its footswitch and everything works, though I've had to spray-out the pots a couple times to keep them from being scratchy since it's been sitting unused. It even has the little "beginner's chart" on how to dial-in different tones.

The owner wants $200 out of it, but he might be open to offers.

Next is a SoundTech 8-ohm PA passive speaker. I've hooked it up to myriad guitar amp heads coming through the shop and loaned it to folks to use if they're needing an extra passive speaker. Please take it if you want it -- it was free to me, free to you. Good condition, sounds great.

Last is a Crate GX-65 -- it's free to me, free to you. The chassis needs two extra bolts to hold it in place and the spring reverb needs to be tightened back down to the box. I actually works just fine and the clean channel sounds great. The drive channel is junk -- but that's what you'd expect out of most solid-state amps of this sort, anyhow. Spring reverb is a nice bonus.

What was the Mike or transducer you used
to record the Cremona 3/4 upright bass?
