1965 Guild F-30NT Flattop Guitar
Unfortunately, this post is just video-only as this was picked-up the same day I finished it and that day was busy. Suffice to say, this guitar was really, really brutalized in its past. It's a Hoboken-made Guild in 000 size and with a short scale, so it handles more like an old Martin 000-18 than the later F-30s with their rounder bodies and long scale which act more like OMs.
If you view the video full screen and in HD, you can see just how many cracks and whatnot are on this beast. A good chunk of the headstock veneer is even just simply shorn-off. The story goes that this was brought-in by the husband of the sister of the original owner. He took it on a sailboat traveling around the world and the guitar certainly looks it. Said original owner passed-away some time ago and this has been in storage, basically, for 40+ years until now.
When it came in, many top braces were just a bit loose and a couple were very loose. Some of the back braces were, too, and none of the many cracks were cleated or sealed. The neck was straight, however, and the truss rod was functional. A replacement bridge had been installed and, apparently, shaved several times.
Work included a neck reset, fret level/dress, lots of crack repairs, a new bridge install, new bone saddle, cleaning, and a good setup, but now it's playing spot-on and happy. Note how great this thing sounds in the clip! It has an even, round voice with a good chunkiness to the bottom-end that keeps it anchored.
