Workshop: '20s L-0 Bridge Damage
How about that one, folks? This is the classic "dip-in" problem -- a bridge was left split and strung-up and so it pitched into the top as it sat in a closet somewhere for who-knows-how-long. The bridge plate even broke in half and the whole front edge of the top was split in a fault. When I wiggled the bridge plate, it fell off with that whole section of top. I could then pry the rest of the bridge plate (gently) loose.
Fortunately, this guitar is already on the mend. I made a new, oversized rosewood bridge plate to shore-up the damaged area, filled the missing section of wood, and glued a new bridge in place. It should be a pretty healthy sandwich, now.
