Mailbag: 1930s Regal Dobro Resonator Guitar



Here's another "ID this email" set of photos -- this time it's a mid-late '30s Regal-made resonator guitar that's basically a Dobro with different branding and an ebonized maple (rather than rosewood) fretboard. It even has the squared-upper-bout "Dobro" shape to the body. The cone, coverplate, and screen-soundholes are all Dobro hardware and that's not surprising because Regal made all of the Dobro bodies in that decade as far as I know.
