Yard Sale: Stuff I'm Not Getting To

A number of local customers have left a lot of instruments for consignment that I just don't see myself getting to anytime soon. These are ones available as-is and would make great instruments to practice budding luthier skills on as they have all the usual problems of cheapies gone awry...

There are two at the end (a Regal Recording King and a Harmony SS Stewart) that I'd be willing to ship as they're real instruments when fixed but the rest are "grab 'em in-shop" as they're not worth shipping.

$20 for this kids' guitar: all ply, action is OK for the classical strings but the saddle needs to move rear by about 1/8" as I recall and it needs a setup.

$50 for this Stage Acoustics dreadnought: all-ply, late '70s or early '80s affair. It needs a new bridge, neck reset, setup work, etc.

$100 for this Oscar Schmidt autoharp: it's actually ready-to-go but needs one new string and tuning-up. It dates to right around 1970 says the owner -- who bought it new and never used it. It's clean and these "late-in-the-game" Schmidts are practical and bulletproof with a good, chimey sound.

$120 for this Ovation Applause AE28: Korean-made, thin-depth bowl, early '80s or so, straight neck, but needs the neck angle changed/reset which can be fussy.

$40 for this Washburn Lyon dreadnought: needs a neck reset (it's very separated) and then a fret level/dress and setup.

$40 for this 1/2-size fiddle from the '70s: with hard case and the bits -- needs strings and a setup.

$100 for this '90s Anton Breton violin: it's not much to look at but I'm sure it will sound decent after new strings and a setup. Hard case, too!

$300 shipped for this Regal-made Recording King or $220 in-shop: it's the "Junior Jumbo" model that I usually sell for $700 or so. It needs a lot of work (as usual) -- all the braces are loose on the back, there are seams unglued all over, the neck needs a reset, there's a missing bit of headstock "wing," tuners need lubing/new buttons, bridge needs modding/replacement/reglue, etc. etc...

$550 shipped for this mini-jumbo Harmony-made SS Stewart or $475 in-shop: this guitar is a mess at the moment, needing everything -- a neck reset, fretwork, new bridge/modded bridge and reglue, lots of brace repairs and mending of the top to remove warp/distortion -- it'd be GREAT for a rebrace job as you could improve its sound and make it healthier at the same time. This is a rare and now-valuable model with its checker binding, kick-butt headstock veneer, etc. -- but this would be years-out in my queue and the owner is looking to flip it. No cracks! Amazing mahogany! I know...
