1938 Supro 60 8w 1x8" Tube Amp

Yes! So fun. I love the look of the old "amp-in-case" lap steel units from the '30s and '40s. That long cabinet... with their rugged builds... and sweet-n-hot sounds. This one's in a simple black finish, too, and all-original save the plug on the power cord.

It's an amp that's supposed to be 8w but it handles more like 3-5w. It's definitely loud enough to play with a small group if you want to always have a bit of breakup, though, into full-on distortion. The field-coil Jensen speaker is still going strong and the tubes all seem happy to me.

Its only "issue" is that the lap steel that belongs with it has such a low-output pickup that, while it works with the amp, it's not really loud enough for anything (using said lap steel) other than bedroom practice or acoustic-friends-jam play. When a more modern pickup (read: anything else) is used, though, the amp has plenty of firepower -- along the lines of a Champ but more mellow and sultry.

The box itself is in good shape aside from tons of scratches and scuffs and the amp's running just fine.

I had no idea the lap steel fit inside that amp. Very cool, thanks for sharing.
