2007 Danelectro (Korea) DC59 Semihollow Electric Bass Guitar

I set this instrument up for its owner way back in February (it's now September) and it's awaited him ever since. In the meantime, he's acquired too much gear, so now it's available for sale. Guess what I needed to do before I put it out on the floor for sale? Nothing. The setup was still bang-on and it was still in tune. I didn't even tune it up to do the video. Not bad stability-wise, eh?

This is a modern, Korean-made twist on the old "double-cut" Danelectro bass. The bridge is still located at the very south of the body but the neck is a full, 34" scale job rather than the ~30" of the original design. It also boasts a second bridge pickup and "series-in-the-middle" wiring.

This bass is almost as-new and, after said setup, it plays perfectly. I love the "middle" position tone but the neck tone is worthy, too. It has a deep, metallic "clunk" to its sound and a fundamental, chunky voice. It sounds a bit like springy piano wire on the low notes -- just like the old guys -- but the longer scale puts it at more tension so it's more accurate-sounding compared to the short-scale originals.
