1976 Mossman D-28-Style Dreadnought Guitar

While I'm used to "boutique" guitars of the '70s sharing a lot of Gurian-sounding tone, this one surprised me in its sheer "Martin-ness." It's got the creamy, velvety lower-mids and bass combined with a sweetly-punchy group of highs. The neck feels more like a modern, low-profile Martin or Taylor, though, compared to "the old boys."

This one was in for a customer repair and it got just that -- a light level/dress of the frets, a bridge reglue, saddle compensation, and setup. The truss rod adjustment is very tricky because it's a big old hex nut buried at the neckblock and, unfortunately, I didn't have tools of the right depth to grab it. So -- I did my fret level and dress job by applying some "tension" to the neck via clamping to simulate string tension  to pull it straight and out of an inherent backbow and... it turned-out just fine.

This guy is fairly lightweight, has pretty (solid) rosewood and trim, and would hold-up great in a jam situation. It's been loved, too, for sure.

Specs are pretty close to a D-28 scale-wise and size-wise.
