1916 Gibson F-2 Carved-Top Mandolin

I adjusted this well-loved old F-2 a while back for its owner but this time it was here overnight for a fret level/dress and setup and so I managed to snag some pics and a video. This sucker hauls, by the way. It's loud, proud, punchy, woody, and mellow in tone. It's just about as good as they get. When they sound like this, though, I start wondering how long the top will last before cave-in, hah hah... not funny, but true! It usually means they're cut on the thin side.

Anyhow, it is what it looks like -- a nice old F-2 that's used a ton. As a result is has a replacement (adjustable) bridge with built-in piezo pickup, carpenter jack for said pickup, and newer (well-functioning) tuners.

It appears to be built from "the normal stuff" -- with a solid spruce carved top, carved birch back, and birch sides. The neck is mahogany (2 piece) and the fretboard and bridge are ebony. The neck is the usual medium, soft-V shape and the board is flat and it has a 13 7/8" scale length.
