2001 Carvin Bolt Partscaster Kit Electric Guitar
This guitar is actually a Carvin Bolt "kit" instrument with a headstock that's been modified and with a "PM Special" decal at the front of it. The owner built it for his Dad some time back but it's been unused for a while, now, so it's here to hit the market.
He did a decent job with it -- the finish is clearly "rattlecan-grade" on the body -- it's a satin spray job that shows mild texture here and there and its share of mild bumps and scratches -- but it looks nice. The neck is a smoother satin and feels good.
These kit guitars were offered in all sorts of configurations but this one has a hardtail bridge, two of the Carvin super-extra-polepiece single coil pickups, and one humbucker (with a single/bucker switch) at the bridge. It's got a 5-way switch and simple master volume/tone knobs. Locking Sperzel tuners are at the headstock and the neck is definitely its own, fast thing -- with a slightly-wider nut width and a slim front-to-back, D-shaped feel.
I just needed to give this a glorified setup and now that it's done, it plays on-the-dot fast and has a clean, clear tone with plenty of opportunities to kick an amp into boosted territory.
Repairs included: a fret level/dress and setup.
