1920s Princess (Slingerland-style) Banjo-Ukulele
This banjo-uke bears the "Princess" brand at the headstock but it's a dead-ringer for Slingerland-branded (MayBell, for instance) instruments and also ones labeled Concertone (among other brands). I'm pretty sure these were all made in Chicago for other companies and possibly by Regal, but I'm not entirely sure.
This one was brought in for customer repair and received a replacement (vintage) skin head, fret level/dress, cleaning, and setup. It already had replacement Grover tuners and a pearl nut installed in its past.
Post-repairs it plays on-the-dot and looks great, too. It has a springy, snappy tone that's aided volume-wise by a simple "pie-plate-style" resonator mounted to the rear. These are made from maple throughout and the rim on this one is simply 2-ply maple -- but figured maple at that.
