Workshop: Compensated Resonator Saddle

Before popping the coverplate on, I wanted to quickly show my "quick-fix" way of compensating a one-piece resonator guitar saddle. Here I've roughly aligned the saddle for a 1/8" distance back from "the scale length" on the bass side... and then dialed-in the intonation by using a small barrel grinder on my Dremel/Foredom to change the breaking point of the strings.

Note that the B and low E are knocked-back more than the others and that I've also dished the backs of the strings that compensate to the front of the saddle so as to make the point of contact shorter for the strings. This helps clean-up tone a lot on resos like this...

In an aside... I find it hilarious that someone at the factory Sharpied, "BAD BODY" on the inside-back.
