1970s Selmer Signet (Japan) GF-102 Dreadnought Guitar

Here's yet another funky old Japanese-made, plywood-bodied, x-braced, dreadnought guitar from the '70s. I don't know the maker but it was sold by Selmer under the "Signet" brand and was here for local repair. It's roughly-comparable to Guild Madeira models, plywood Alvarez models, and some of the Yamaki-built guitars. It's not high-end is what I'm trying to get at.

The owner liked it enough to get the headstock's nasty break epoxied back together, though, and so as a parting gift I also properly adjusted it to play decently -- shaving the bridge a little, adjusting the saddle lower, and dialing in the setup. It now plays on spec and, well, has that sound. It's good.

This guy has a mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge, ply spruce top, and ply mahogany back and sides. It's got a 25 3/8" (Martin-style) scale and a neck that's similar to a Martin, too, save the plastic-y finish and lack of "heft."
