1924 Gibson TB-5 Trap Door Tenor Banjo

A customer brought this 1924 Gibson TB-5 into the spa for the day -- where it received a fret level/dress, tidying-up of the tension and bits, and a good setup. Like other Gibson tenor banjos from the time, it features the "trap door" resonator contraption on the rear, ball-bearing tonering, integrated hook-hoop band, guitar-style tuners, a hefty neck, and a quite-short scale length. Unlike other Gibson tenor banjos from the time, it's completely blinged-out in gold-plated hardware, binding everywhere, a bound pickguard, pearl inlay, and deluxe appointments.

It does sound as good as it looks now that it's done-up and, heck, it's got pearl buttons! ...and a pearl nut! The owner keeps it in CGDA standard and the instrument is completely original save a more-recent Remo FiberSkyn head install and 3-foot bridge.

This one has a dual coordinator rod setup.

This thing looks luscious...I don't play tenor, but...I want one!
