1940s Gibson ES-140 Hollowbody 3/4-Size Electric Guitar

This "sport"-sized (3/4 or terz) ES-140 is a killer guitar -- not only in looks but in sound and feel as well. It's another Mike Brown guitar, so it's lefty-ized and also Gibson. In fact, here's a pic of him playing it (just after we'd finished-up on it) down at my favorite venue The Wild Fern last Wednesday:

So, about the guitar? It's super-lightweight, has a 22 3/4" scale length, small Les Paul-sized body (but deeper), a glorious-looking cutaway, and is outfitted with somewhat original equipment. The pickup is a late-'40s Gibson P90 but not original to the guitar. The wiring harness is new (mine -- 500k pots and an Orange Drop cap) and the lefty bridge is one I custom-made for it that's a slightly-altered take on the '40s-style bridge found on a '60s Epiphone Sorrento version of this model. It also has tuners that are period but not original.

The nut width is about 1 5/8" and so it's comfy if you're used to Fender-style neck profiles (especially those 22 1/2" scale student necks) and it feels, well, good! It's a Gibson!

The guitar was fit for a humbucker at some point so the top was recut in that area a bit. It's obnoxious but not obvious at a glance.
